Electroluminescent Backlighting Membrane Switches

Downsides Of Electroluminescent Backlighting Membrane Switches

  • EL Lamp requires AC voltage thus requiring DC to AC inverter & control circuit.
  • EL phosphor has a 3000-hour high-life and brightness dims gradually to 50%.
  • Colors are limited to white, blue, and yellow/green.
  • Much higher cost than LED solutions.
  • Added EL lamp layer will increase actuation force and reduce the tactile sensation of buttons.
