The benefits of using ALMAX-made In-Mold Products:
In-Mold Technologies utilize the classic Injection Molding manufacturing processes and combine it with modern ones to provide enhanced functionality & aesthetics for user interface applications. This process allows various components to be combined during production allowing the creation of a seamless molded part.
In-Mold Technology is classified into different types, depending on the application. The most common types are In-Mold Labeling (IML), In-Mold Decorating (IMD), and In-Mold Electronics (IME).
In-Mold Labeling provides the integration of a label into a part during the molding process, while In-Mold Decorating is the process of applying a decorative film into a molded part.
In-Mold Electronics on the other hand, is the integration of electronic components, circuits and functions into a single molded part also occurring during the molding process.
The manufacturing of In-Mold products follows our specific and standardized process. The workflows needed to produce IML, IMD & IME parts each share many related steps, technical skills & standardized equipment.
Manufacturing an In-Mold part begins with screen printing conductive inks for the circuit layer, and optionally graphical inks for the graphics layer. Then the layers are thermoformed and cut to size.
Next, the graphical and/or circuitry layers are inserted into the injection mold of the final structure, making all the layers into a single solid piece.
The last stage following manufacturing, is rigorous test & inspection to provide a finished quality product that is both robust & meets specifications.
In-Mold Technology can be used with various materials, depending on the application. Some of the common materials used in In-Mold Technology include thermoplastics, thermosets, and elastomers. Thermoplastics are widely used due to their versatility, ease of molding, and low cost. Thermosets are used in applications where high strength and durability are required, such as in the production of automotive parts. Elastomers are used in applications where flexibility and elasticity are required, such as in the production of rubber seals and gaskets.
